IWA-2 : QMS Guide for Education

International Workshop Agreement, IWA-2, is part of the quality management systems, a guide for the application of  ISO 9001:2008 specifically for educational organisations.. IWA-2 provides guidance to educational organizations in order to :
-    implement effective quality management system based on ISO 9001
-    conduct continuous improvement of education services

The introduction of IWA-2, is not intended for organisations go for conformity or certification, but to allow both internal and external parties, to assess the organisation’s ability to meet customer satisfaction, its regulatory and sustainable success.

Relationship and differences between ISO 9001:2008 and IWA-2 are:

Requirements of International Standards for Quality Management System  International Guidelines for Process Improvement Education Services
Using 8 Management Principles as a basis Using 8 principles plus 4 as the basic management principles
Generic, can be applied in various forms of organisation Description / guide the implementation of ISO 9001


8 Principles in ISO 9001:2008 are :

3.    The involvement of personnel
4.    Process approach
5.    System approach to management
6.    Continuous improvement
7.    Approach facts
8.    Cooperation with partners

While in IWA-2, the 4 additional principles are:
1    Creating a 'learner value'
2.    Focus on social values
3.    Intelligence & agility
4.    Autonomy

By implementing the IWA-2, the organisation can measure student’s satisfactions against the organisation’s value set, improve on the safety and and environment condition, to ensure sustainable growth of the community in general and subsequently create opportunity for sustainable success in the educational organisation.
