Structured Innovation (TRIZ based)

Introduction

Structured Innovation is a proven method that helps to speed up the creative thinking process to solve complex problems. Based on the Theory of Inventive Problem-Solving (TRIZ), it goes beyond brain-storming and the like which are good for solving simpler problems.

Traditional innovation is usually born out of trial and error, exhausting repeats of random attempts and head-strong, dogged commitment to one’s quest. If this is creativity, it appears to be a game of chance and repeated tries, rather like gambling! If we do not have bright ideas popping up like mushrooms after the rain, nor the abilities and aptitude of Thomas Edison and Madame Curie, what other avenues do we have?

'It's about
creativity,
imagination,
and above all,
innovation'

'It opens up
possibilities
and speeds up
the process of
problem-solving'

With Structured Innovation, one is not just shooting in the dark and it helps to even the odds for a regular Joe who has trouble with lateral thinking. Structured Innovation is as its name suggests, a structured approach, an algorithmic approach that appeals to the pragmatic and logical, and offers an exhaustive tool box to speed up the process to reach the “eureka” moment.

A quote in the 1 August 2005 issue of Business Week is very telling, “The game is changing. It isn’t just about math and science anymore. It’s about creativity, imagination, and above all, innovation.” Indeed, innovation is the competency that we all now seek. Learn how to solve complex problems, see and seize opportunities with Structured Innovation. It can help to open up a realm of possibilities and speed up the process of problem-solving.
