Kedah Food Safety Seminar

On 28 April 2014, the Ministry of Health from the Kedah Kuala Muda district invited Neville Clarke (M) Sdn. Bhd. to present a food safety paper to 200 members of the Kedah food industry, health officers and relevant government officials at Sungai Petani Inn (formerly Hotel Amanpura). The 2014 Kedah Food Safety Seminar kicked off with the importance of food safety by the Deputy Director of Health Food Safety and Quality Division from Kedah Health Department, Haji Mohd Khairuddin Mohd Talib. The first speaker was Ms. Jennifer Tan, consultant from Neville Clarke who gave an overview on Foreign Material Management for 1.5 hours using the 7-step approach as well as shared best and weak practices with the industries.

The 7-step approach includes

•    Supplier controls
•    Receiving practices including inspection of incoming goods, test and examination on sampled materials and delivery practices
•    Storage practices including stock rotation
•    Operational practices
•    Sanitation practices
•    Building designs and equipment as well as maintenance practices
•    Use of foreign material control devices with procedures on managing these.
 

 

The other speakers at the seminar were :

Mr. Albert Lee, Asia Application Manager from Ecolab whose paper was on Sanitation, Mr. Daniel Tan, Product Specialist and Mr. Darren Ooi, Asia Pacific Marketing Manager whose presentations were on Metal Detector and X-ray as well as Ms. Julie Na, Malaysia Senior Technical Manager from Rentokil-Initial who spoke about Pest Control Management.

All speakers were given a plaque for their contributions and sharing of knowledge with the food and beverage industry.

A number of participants visited the booth set up by Neville Clarke where they were given brochures and additional information on training and consultancy packages available not only on food safety but other management systems as well.
