Food Safety Seminar - Combating Food Safety Risk

On 28th August 2014, Neville Clarke - Kuala Lumpur hosted a seminar on Combating Food Safety Risk to a wide audience of more than 15 companies from various food industries. The topics were well presented by our Food Management System Specialists – Puan Hapisah Ramli and Ms Jennifer Tan.

This seminar aimed to educate organisations the importance of having sound food safety systems, essential for a competitive environment and to demonstrate that due diligence has been undertaken for food protection. Amongst the topics shared included:

Towards GFSI Food Safety Management Systems on the overview of the GFSI scheme which comprises of FSSC 22000, BRC, SQF and other food management systems.

Food Defence versus Food Safety, on the approach that can be used to set up food defence to reduce the possibility of food supplies being contaminated intentionally. In this part, the speaker also shared protective hardware measures needed for food defence management.

Managing Food Allergens Today, an in-depth overview on allergen management program that can be adopted by various organisations with case studies shared.

Foreign Material Management, an interesting section where not only common issues faced by organisations are discussed when managing foreign material but also on common detection devices that can be used such as metal detectors, sifters, strainers and magnets.

Overall, the seminar received excellent feedback from the delegates and one delegate from Euro Deli Manufacturing commented “very interesting and gain a lot of information. Seminar was simple, direct to the point. I am very satisfied”.

The seminar ended with a sumptuous lunch at The Spread, The Gardens Hotel & Residences.
