Posted on 12 August 2016
The TL 9000:2016 Release 6.0 (R6) Requirements Handbook is now published. It is revised based on ISO 9001:2015 requirements and it has adopted the Annex SL ten-clause structure.
The TL 9000 Quality Management System (QMS) was created by QuEST (Quality Excellence for Suppliers of Telecommunications) Forum to meet the quality requirements of the worldwide telecommunications industry.
Release 6.0 of the TL 9000 Requirements Handbook will be effective from 15 September 2016. A two-year transition timeline is given from September 2016 to September 2018. This timeline for transition coincides with that for ISO 9001:2015.
During the transition period, both version of Release 5.5 and Release 6.0 Requirements Handbook are valid. R6.0 may be used for audits conducted on and after September 15, 2016. All audits conducted on or after September 15, 2018 would have to be to the Release 6.0 Requirements.
Key dates are summarised below:
- 15 Sept 2016: TL 9001 R6.0 certification audits may begin
- 15 Sept 2017: TL 9000 R6.0 must be used in all certification audits
- 15 Sept 2018: TL 9000 R5.5 becomes obsolete
In R6.0, two brand new adder requirements are introduced. One is for sustainability assessment and the other for internal audit program planning.
Sustainability Assessment invites the organization to assess the status of its sustainability efforts as appropriate to its organization, products and services. Internal Audit Program Planning specifies that the organization’s internal audit program must cover all applicable Requirements and Measurements Handbook requirements.
