Hundreds of families from impoverished communities in the city were treated to early Christmas cheer recently, courtesy of Neville-Clarke Malaysia. In collaboration with HOPE worldwide Malaysia, a non-profit, non-religious, charity organisation based in Kuala Lumpur, Neville Clarke brought joy to their world and left smiles on the faces of children from slum areas in Sentul. The children and their family members came out in numbers to receive groceries worth RM50 per family.
HOPE worldwide Malaysia executive director Katy Lee said the goodies were distributed to 100 families with the help of volunteers from Neville Clarke staffs comprising of 20 people. The groceries consisted of basic essentials: rice, Milo, cooking oil, biscuits, dried noodles, sardine, milk powder, condensed milk and toothpaste.
Mr Poon Cheong Yuen, the Managing Director of Neville-Clarke (M) Sdn Bhd who has also facilitated the distribution, said the grinding poverty and a lack of basic amenities at the poorest neighbourhoods is an eye-opener. “There were joy and hopefulness on the faces of the families when we distributed the foods and goodie bags”, he added.
