Introduction    
The Lean Practitioner certification programme is a programme that has been designed to bring the delegate through from basic understanding of Lean to successful implementation of fundamental Lean tools in the workplace.

The tools and techniques introduced in this programme have been successfully applied in manufacturing and service organizations and have resulted in significant monetary savings and improved operational performance.  

The programme structure combining classroom sessions and back-at-work tasks ensures that there is practical application of what has been learnt in the classroom.


Objectives
This programme provides the foundation for the Lean Practitioner to :
  • Identify wastes in the workplace
  • Improve the organization of the work area
  • Identify opportunities that can enhance the organisation’s ability to provide value to its customers
  • Carry out work study on specific tasks and identify opportunities for improvement

  • Apply relevant Lean techniques to eliminate wasteful practices     
  • Establish key performance metrics to monitor progress and results attained.

Flight 1 – 5 days
  • Introduction to the Lean Practitioner Program  
  • An Introduction to Lean Manufacturing   
  • Value Stream Improvement
  • Understanding 5S Principles (this is a compulsory e-Learning module to be completed by the participant in his/her own time within 30 days of course confirmation)

  • Flight 1 Lean Knowledge Assesment (Quiz)
Managers, Engineers, Maintenance and Production Supervisors and Executives responsible for process improvement.
 
Certification Criteria    

Lean Practitioner Certification Criteria

Training (Certificate of Attendance)
  • Completion of Lean Practitioner Training with a minimum attendance of 80% per Flight

Certification Criteria (Certified Lean Practitioner) - Optional
  • Completion of Lean Practitioner Training with a minimum attendance of 80% per Flight
  • Completion of Understanding 5S Principles (e-learning)
  • Pass all the Quizzes (Flight 1 and e-learning),
  • Completion of 1 Lean project with application of at least 1 Lean tool
  • Project report submitted to and approved by Neville Clarkes’s assessor
  • Project savings / benefits achieved  for the project must total more than RM10,000 per annum
  • Project results must impact 1 or more of the performance indicators related to Quality, Cost and Delivery
  • Project savings / benefits achieved to be validated and endorsed by finance / senior management of the participant’s organisation, as real gains.

Note :
Participants must be involved and contribute to the Lean Project. Activities that fulfil this criteria :
  • Participant is a project team leader or team member
  • Participant contributes ideas on Lean tool application
  • Participant is involved in data collection, analysis and solution implementation

Activities that do not fulfil this criteria : Attending meetings, reviewing reports and scheduling project related activities.

Each Lean Practitioner participant will be given a period of 6 months from completion of the training to complete one Lean project for submission and certification.


Tutor
The Lean Practitioner trainer is a professional who has years of experience working with many organizations from various industries to implement Lean.  The trainer will be able to share real-life experiences and lessons learnt from Lean implementation in the workplace. The trainer will be able to guide the delegates towards making the right improvement initiatives and plan that is appropriate for their organizations.
 

Duration

This is a 5-day course running from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm each day.
